Obama: More Questions Than Answers

I’ve questioned Barack Obama’s credentials, or lack thereof, to lead this nation numerous times. However, Democrats, seem hell bent on nominating this man that nobody seems to know anything about.

The more I learn about this man, the more he scares me. The more I see of this man, the more fearful I become of the world that a President Obama will leave for the son I am raising.

During last night’s Democratic debate there was a very interesting exchange between co-moderator and Meet the Press host Tim Russert and Senator Barack Obama regarding remarks make by Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan supporting Senator Obama.

Here is the video clip of the exchange.

Obama’s clever “denunciation” of Farrakhan was not a rejection. Hillary did see an opportunity to hit Obama on this, but missed her best chance to draw blood.

But the larger point is Obama’s two-step, and very awkward answer, to this question. It should have been a very quick and easy answer for Obama. “You bet Tim, I unequivocally reject Farrakhan’s support on the basis of his divisive and hate filled rhetoric.”

Instead, we received a diatribe about Obama “denouncing Farrakhan,” Obama’s support of Jews and Jewish support of African-Americans through the Civil Rights movement.

A fellow blogger made an excellent point, if David Duke called John McCain a good man, would McCain hesitate to reject the hate-mongering stances of Duke? I seriously, seriously doubt it. He wouldn’t want Duke’s support, or those folks who share his perverted views on race.

Russert also pointed to Obama’s own pastor’s, Dr. Jeremiah Wright, support of Farrakhan and a trip Wright took to Libya with Farrakhan in 1984 to visit Muammar Qaddafi.

Dr. Wright has come under scrutiny for his “racially divisive” sermons and statements and Obama, on numerous occasions, has had to distance himself from Dr. Wright’s statements.

Instances like this do nothing to quell the rumor and innuendo of Barack Obama and the rumors that he’s really a Muslim. Now, I don’t think he’s Muslim, but when he cannot quickly and unequivocally reject the likes of Louis Farrakhan, he’s only bringing more speculation of beliefs.

Combine this, with Obama’s statements about being willing to negotiate with the like of Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

According to Jonah Goldberg Obama also has a friendly relationship with William Ayers. Ayers is a former leader of a radical 70’s group, the Weather Underground, that declared war on the U.S. government. In an excerpt of Ayers’ memoir, that ironically appeared in the New York Times on September 11, 2001, said, “I don’t regret setting bombs” and “I feel we didn’t do enough.”

The Weather Underground “allegedly” bombed the US Capitol in 1971 and the Pentagon in 1972. Ayers was a leader. Obama met with Ayers and his wife in 1995 as he looked to get elected to the Illinois State Senate.

I can’t tell you how many times, growing up, as my parents were teaching me about picking my friends and character, that they told me you can tell a lot about a person by the company he keeps.

Again, I’m not calling into question Obama’s religion and I don’t think he supports domestic terrorism; but, I’m calling into question his judgment. He can’t reject Farrakhan. He associates himself with a pastor who supports Farrakhan and his own racially divisive rhetoric has been questioned. He says he will negotiate, without preconditions, with a radical Islamo-Facist Iranian dictator who has called for the removal of Israel from this planet and has minced no words in his hatred for America. He even has a friendly relationship with a notorious domestic terrorist group leader from the 1970s.

There are numerous questions surrounding Barack Obama. Frankly, there are more questions than answers. Who is he? What does he stand for? Why won’t he reject Farrakhan? What is his relationship with his own Pastor? Why will he negotiate with a man that wants to destroy Israel? Why is he friendly with a leader of a 1970s domestic terror group?

Not only does this tell us a lot about Barack Obama, but it tells us more about the Democratic Party. This man is who the Democratic Party wants to prop up as THEIR nominee to lead the United States of America. Like I said, you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep…and apparently nominate for President.

He scares me. greatly. But this election has been run by public relations, the overexposure of ads and the media, so the people have bought into it no matter what evidence is presented that should make us cautious. I'm very scared.

Ruth-I agree with your assessment, but honestly, all political campaigns have become about PR, ads and media. Why do you think campaign consultants get paid as well as they do. The McCain camp is going to have to make this camapaign about issues and experience. If Obama can manage to frame the general election like he has framed the primary, Republicans and McCain are in trouble.
