What began in South Carolina is finally boiling over.
Texas was about African American's and Latinos.
Mississippi exit polls are showing the deepening divide.
Geraldine Ferraro, Clinton supporter and the first female candidate for vice president has said that the only reason Obama has got to this position is because he's black.
Obama has said her comments have no place in the Democratic Party.
This Democratic Primary race, is quickly becoming about race.
I said yesterday that while McCain has his own problems uniting his base, it pales in comparison to what the Democratic nominee is going to have on his/her hands.
Look at this exit poll. It shows that divide is now going beyond race, gender and age. There are now a majority of supporters on each side that will be unsatisfied if their candidate does not get the nominee. More Clinton supporters will be unhappy if Obama is the nominee which is telling because that is very likely to be the case.
The attacks in the Democratic Primary have evolved from issues to personal. This race will go six more weeks, possibly longer, with the attacks not getting less personal. Hillary Clinton and the Clinton campaign will do and say anything to win.
Look folks, this is a big deal. I know the media is talking about it, but I don't believe they are giving it its due importance. The fractures are visible. The policies aren't THAT different. The votes are along racial and gender lines. I can assure you, were this same type of fight going on in the GOP, it would be widely covered.
The Democrats have long depended on minorities, espeically African-Americans and Latinos, to defeat Republicans. The more personal the attacks, the bigger the fractures get between these major voting blocks for Democrats.

Obama hits back at Ferraro...says she's dividing Democrats.
and
At least she's consistent.
EVEN MORE...
Intresting article by Laura McKenna on the women vote for Hillary.
UPDATE:
Jim Geraghty over at NRO makes a similar point and takes it a step further. He's right.
UPDATE:
Ferraro steps down from HRC campaign. CNN is reporting.
I'm telling you, Obama is alienating women voters, Clinton is alienating African-American voters. A fractured, deeply divided party.
FINALLY...
Democratic Strategist Matt Bennett seems to agree with what I'm saying. Not so sure I should be happy about that.
