According the new Reuters/Zogby Poll, McCain is up by 5. That erases a 7 point lead that Obama had in July.
I think Obama must be seeing similar numbers internally, becuase he is on the attack.
McCain has actually done a good job over the last month getting Obama off message and on the defensive.
However, all of this will soon come to a halt with the Democratic National Convention next week and Obama announcing his VP running mate sometime this week. He will most certainly receive a bounce in the polls, as will John McCain the first of September. Pay attention to the polls late September, early October, that will give us an indication of where this race really stands.
But don't discount this poll totally, it may be early, but the Democrats have no business trailing in the polls.
A loss in November would be a far more devastating loss for Democrats than Republicans. Many, including myself, expect the Democrats to take back the White House, however, they too have falled in love with Obama and as I've said before, he is the one Democrat that could lose this election.
