Congressman Zach Wamp, speaking in Nashville today, said he is ready to run for Governor of Tennessee if former Senator Bill Frist decides not to run.
Obviously, if Frist runs, he's going to clear the field for the GOP and given his personal wealth and name ID, possibly clear the field for the Democrats too.
I will say this, I think Bill Frist would make a great governor, but I have worked with Congressman Zach Wamp throughout my 7 years in Tennessee, and you will not find a better man than Zach Wamp.
He is energetic, he's articulate, he's intelligent and more importantly, he's a leader. I have not met or worked with someone who inspires me more than Zach Wamp. Tennessee would greatly benefit from having Zach Wamp as Governor and I would be first in line to support his campaign.
I don't want to say I hope that Frist doesn't run, but nothing would make me happier than to put a Zach Wamp for Governor bumper sticker on my car.
