You CANNOT be Serious

It's that time of year, no, not for Santa and Christmas Trees, but for debate over college football and the BCS. I think we could all agree that the best was to describe the BCS is to remove the C. For the record, I think Texas was hosed, but we'll debate that another day.

Having said that, it appears that Hawaii Democratic Congressman Neil Abercrombie is urging President-elect Obama to get the Justice Department to investigate the BCS.

"Replacing the Bowl Championship Series with a process that allows the NCAA Division I football National Championship to be decided on the field is a matter of sportsmanship and a matter of equity," Abercrombie said.

Now look, I love college football as much as anybody and I would love nothing more than to have a 8 team playoff. But a Department of Justice investigation? Really?

Let me get this straight, we have crooks at Freddie, Fannie and Wall Street. We have the three big automakers begging for cash to avoid bankruptcy, California is 2 months away from being totally broke and other states are close behind Not to mention we have a war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and THIS is what Congressman Abercrombie is wanting the Justice Department to investigate?

I pray that President-elect Obama is smart enough to thank Congressman Abercrombie for his letter and wish him a nice day.

Investigating the BCS right now would be the equivalent of the band playing while the Titanic sunk. Sure sounds pretty, but there a some more important things at hand.
