Thank you, Mr. President

With today being President Bush's last full day in office I wanted to take a few lines of this space to offer my thanks and gratitude to President and Mrs. Bush.

There isn't much positive said these days about President George W. Bush, but I have nothing but respect and gratitude for our 43rd president.

I'm thankful for his strong leadership after September 11th. In the days and and weeks following this dreadful day, President Bush stood in front of the American people as the comforter in chief. After the smoke and dust settled in New York, The Pentagon and Pennsylvania, Bush's leadership helped Americans to move foward, while honoring those who perished. His words and actions were a comfort to us all.

I'm thankful that he has kept this country, and my family, safe since. Many didn't like the policies Bush implemented after 9/11. Debate it, discuss it, but you cannot argue with the results.

I'm thankful that I'm paying lower taxes. This speaks for itself, more money in the pockets of taxpayers is a good thing. Now, lets quit the wasteful spending and the tax cuts can be permanent.

I'm thankful that despite the calls of defeat in Iraq, he stood his ground, ordered the surge and now victory in Iraq is in sight. Bush's refusal to accept defeat is one his biggest gifts to President-elect Obama. Had Bush listened to the likes of Obama himself, then Obama would be dealing with the humiliation of a withdraw and a terrible, devastating defeat.

President Bush has not recieved much recognition or respect by many on TV or in the newspapers. I haven't agreed with him on everything. But I'm glad that President George W. Bush has called the shots over the last eight years. He has stood tall when he had no political incentive to do so. He has has not wavered when he was criticized by many in the world. He did the things he did because he thought it was the right thing to do and this country is better for it.

I wish rest and peace for President Bush and his family. God Bless and thank you for your service to our country.
