Well, and that's the problem

Jim Geraghty discussed the debate this afternoon between the 6 gentleman vying to become the next Chair of the RNC.

I listened to the debate and technology was a major theme of the debate with each candidate talking how they will use technology in future campaigns.

Unfortunately, via President-elect Obama's campaign, most in the GOP found out the hard way how the Internet, by the way of blogs, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, MySapce, etc. is a force in modern day campaigns.

So, thankfully, whoever is elected the next chair will implement a tech campaign so the GOP can keep up with the times.

There was one quote in Geragthy's piece that caused me concern.

And the public at large is following this race in a quite different manner than RNC members are. One backer of one of the candidates said, "If he doesn't put a stamp on it, the RNC members don't see it" — meaning that RNC members aren't following online articles, blogs, Twitter, etc.

If the RNC members don't get their head out of their...umm...backside, then we might as well get used to minority label.

Obama's use of technology was brilliant. It motivated, it captivated and it activated. If the RNC members don't see that and realize the enormous tool that the Internet is, then frankly, we are screwed.

I think this also screams for getting newer, younger blood in the RNC.

Whoever the next RNC Chair is, please focus on three things.

1. Technology
2. Outreach
3. Communication
